The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) is an international financial institution and a member of the World Bank Group, established in April 1988. MIGAs main goal is to promote cross-border investment in developing countries, which supports economic growth, reduces poverty, and enhances living standards. With 182 member states, MIGA has a significant global presence. MIGA offers various services to mitigate non-commercial risks associated with investments in developing countries. These include political risk insurance, trade finance guarantees, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). MIGA also provides private equity fund insurance, dispute resolution services, and reinsurance to enhance investor confidence. Additionally, MIGA utilizes trust funds and blended finance to encourage investment in areas of special need, maximizing its impact on sustainable development.
