Six months into a full enterprise rollout and the thing that keeps coming up in every internal retrospective is how well Domo handles permissions. I was bracing for the usual nightmare: a tangle of role hierarchies, endless support tickets, and half the organization seeing data they shouldn't. What I got instead was a configuration experience that actually made sense from day one. The permission groups are granular enough to satisfy our compliance team but not so buried in menus that I needed a consultant on speed dial to figure them out.
The admin console deserves real credit here. Assigning dataset-level access, scoping individual cards to specific user groups, and auditing who can see what took me maybe two hours to set up across our initial pilot of about 80 users. That's genuinely fast for an enterprise environment. The bulk-user management tools smoothed out what could have been a messy onboarding week. A few quirks exist, like the way row-level security is configured feels slightly disconnected from the main permissions flow, and it took me a couple of afternoons to fully reconcile the two, but nothing that stalled the rollout.
Our IT security lead (who is notoriously hard to impress) signed off on the access controls within a week of her own audit. That alone tells you something. Customer support was responsive when I had a question about SSO integration, though I'd say their documentation could stand to be more current on a few edge-case scenarios. If you're evaluating Domo for a large organization where data governance keeps your compliance team up at night, the admin and permissions layer is worth a close look. It held up under real pressure for us.
