Two years into running alumni engagement for a growing startup, and the edge cases are what I want to talk about. ToucanTech handles the standard workflows beautifully, but what I was really watching for was how it behaved when things got weird. Bulk imports with messy, inconsistent data? It flagged duplicates better than I expected, though a handful of records still needed manual cleanup. Custom event registration flows for niche alumni segments hit some limits in the form builder, and I had to lean on their support team to find a workaround. They found one, fast. That response time is not an accident.
The fundraising and mentoring modules are where this platform earns its price for an organization our size. Neither one is perfect at the margins, and a few edge cases around payment reconciliation took a couple of support tickets to sort out. But here is the thing: every single time I hit a wall, someone at ToucanTech actually cared about solving it. For an all-in-one community platform at this price point, that combination is genuinely hard to find.
