Scaling from 14 to 38 people in under a year is genuinely chaotic, and BambooHR is the one piece of our stack that kept up without breaking a sweat. Onboarding used to eat my entire week. Now a new hire gets their paperwork, e-signatures, and first-day checklist without me chasing anyone through Slack. The employee self-service portal alone cut my inbox noise in half. I was skeptical that a tool picked at 14 heads would still feel right at 38, but it does.
The time-off tracking and org chart update automatically as people come in, which sounds like a small thing until you're adding four people in one month. Performance reviews took some setup, but once the templates were dialed in they've been easy to repeat. My only real gripe is that reporting customization could go deeper. For a growing startup that doesn't want to hire a second HR person just to survive the next growth sprint, this is the right call.
