Three-plus years into a full enterprise rollout and my honest take is this: Shopify holds up remarkably well, even when you push it into weird territory. Custom B2B pricing logic, multi-currency edge cases, inventory sync across a dozen locations, I've thrown a lot at it. Some limitations bit us, particularly around complex discount stacking and certain API rate ceilings during peak traffic. Not dealbreakers, but plan for them.
What kept me from writing those off as serious complaints is how consistently they addressed things through platform updates and Merchant Success support. The product genuinely improves over time. If you're scoping an enterprise deployment, map your edge cases early and you'll be fine.
