Five-plus years running a charity storefront on this platform, and Shopify handles the bulk of what we need without complaint. Donation-style pricing, digital downloads, member-only discount codes, it all works. But the edge cases catch you. Shopify's tax-exempt handling is genuinely awkward for non-profits, requiring workarounds that feel patched together rather than designed. Postage rules with unusual product bundles have also bitten us more than once.
Still, the core is solid. Support has improved over the years and the app ecosystem fills most gaps eventually. For a small charity team, it remains the most practical option I've found.
