Uptime has been the quiet backbone of my confidence in this platform. Managing storefronts for about a dozen clients over the past year, I needed something that simply stays on. Shopify has, almost without exception, delivered that. I can count the unplanned disruptions on one hand, and their status page is genuinely transparent when something does go sideways. That matters a lot when a client's Black Friday traffic is spiking and I'm the one on call.
The one real frustration is how bug fixes get communicated, or don't. A few times my team caught checkout quirks after a platform update with zero heads-up from Shopify's end. We had to discover the issue ourselves rather than getting a proactive alert. That kind of reactive communication is the gap between a four-star and a five-star platform for an agency context. Everything else, the reliability, the core feature set, the onboarding experience for new merchant clients, holds up well. Worth it for most ecommerce builds.
