I sent my references to these people. My references all had very nice things to say about me. The company rescinded their offer based on this sham of a process. Most people think 6's and 7's are good, but it looks like if any of your references gives you less than a 7 on anything, it's considered bad. This is absolute nonsense, and there is no way to dispute or provide more references if needed. Had the company taken time to ACTUALLY speak to my references, they would realize that they missed out on a great employee. This system cannot understand nuance, and many don't ever give perfect scores regardless. Very very unfair to the candidate.

I had to fill out this survey for one of my students. I think it is very superficial and there is no space for nuance. Employers would be much better off just picking up the phone. Also, the survey request doesn't say what kind of position the evaluation is for, so I don't even know what the expectations for "average" are. This is the perfect way for an employer to get useless information. Also Skill-whatever seems to be just hunting for personal information - of the candidate as well as the references. Some company suddenly started sending me emails about positions that I have no interest in!

As a recruiter, this tool is a lifesaver. Especially being in healthcare, it's really difficult to get ahold of people's references. SkillSurvey quotes 85% response rate in 2 days, I've found that to be pretty accurate, the better candidates are usually able to get their references completed faster anyways. The feedback on the reports is all confidential, at first, this was annoying, but we've come to realize the feedback is probably more candid this way. The source tool is good but it costs extra. Customer service is really good.

โI provide references for about 20 of my former studentsโฆโ
I provide references for about 20 of my former students and former employees each year. I receive a few Skills Survey emails every year. They do not provide the name of the company, the position, any name of a contact person, or anything else about the position for which my former student/staff member is applying. I will gladly talk with and send a letter to a specific hiring manager. However, I will not send confidential information about one of my former students or staff to an online data company such as Skills Survey, for them to interpret and use as they wish.
