What is OpenDrive?
OpenDrive, a Palo Alto, California corporation, utilizes a unique virtual company structure and exclusively cloud based applications. OpenDrive launched its first application in 2008 to provide individuals with a simple solution to store, backup and share their digital content. Since the company's creation, OpenDrive has grown to serve over 1 million users and is trusted by over 20,000 businesses worldwide. OpenDrive openly embraces cloud based technology, offering applications on multiple platforms designed to provide easy backup and data syncing to the cloud. OpenDrive matches innovation with simplicity by creating one of the easiest to use desktop applications, as well as a simple yet powerful website. In late 2010, OpenDrive moved the base of its operations to an N+1, maximum-security data center in the heart of Silicon Valley. OpenDrive was created and backed by Luka & Bramer group a.s., as well as some of the most knowledgeable angel investors in the USA and Europe. OpenDrive has won numerous awards for top-notch service, including TopTenReview's Silver Award in 2011 and 2012, their Gold Award in 2013, and the Excellence Award in 2011, which is TopTenReview's highest honor. OpenDrive has also been named Brothersoft Editor's Choice and has won Soft82's prestigious 5 star award.

Review Summary
Generated using AI from real user reviews
OpenDrive receives overwhelmingly positive user feedback, with 41 out of 50 recent reviews rating it 5 stars. Users consistently praise the clean, intuitive interface and fast performance for uploading and downloading files. The standout feature is direct linking and hotlinking, which users value highly for embedding files in websites and blogs, especially for audio streaming. Many also appreciate the free 5 GB tier and reliable synchronization and backup functionality across multiple drives.
Several reviewers highlight the mobile apps and file-sharing tools as convenient additions. The service is positioned as a competitive alternative to Dropbox, with some claiming it is faster or more feature-rich. One long-time user noted zero crashes over three years, and another recovered lost data thanks to automatic synchronization.
The main limitation cited across multiple reviews is the limited free storage and bandwidth constraints. A few users wish the free tier were more generous or that certain features like direct linking or higher bandwidth were included at no cost. One reviewer noted that customizable file URLs would improve the service. Occasional requests for a Linux client also appear, though the Windows desktop app is praised for ease of use. Overall, the product delivers on core file storage and sharing needs at a competitive price point.

This is a definite competitor for Dropbox. It has all the functions, looks clean, is quick, easy to use and seems reliable. Now all it needs is a Linux client to be complete and be Accessible from Anywhere as advertized.
